hi
today i just did finding photos in the loft, and i found these ones of the house my great grandparents owned, in woodlands avenue new malden, which is next to london on the south west bit
i also found a photo of my dad dressed as an elf but i won't post that one
they had it built after seeing it at an Ideal Homes exhibition in the 30s, weirdly put on by the Daily Mail newspaper in Olympia in london: here is an advert for the house/exhibition which i found on flickr, "Sunspan House", Olympia - advert by Gordon Russell, Broadway, Worcestershire - April 1934.

here are some photos of the inside:

this is the lounge in 1952

here is the lounge in 1935

here is the dining room (also in 1935)

  1. Hi Kate,

    Love the house and photos.
Friends have just moved in to the house and we were there last night and they would really appreciate knowing more about its original owners and its history as they are looking to restore and preserve this beautiful and significant piece of architecture.

I hope to hear from you soon.

    1. Hi Neil,

Wow, that's so cool, thanks so much for getting in touch! I'm so sorry for the slow reply -- this blog is connected to a different email account to my usual one so I have only just seen your message! I will get back to you asap as I have more photos of the original house etc that I can share with you.

      Kate
